Draft Video

My topic throughout this semester has been fitness and health. For this project I had Makalen Hughes demonstrate two different workouts. Abs are something that everyone wants but to be able to achieve. But abs you have always been wanting take some effort and work. In this clip the first workouts you will see is her doing is three different kinds of ab workouts.I explain in the video the benefits of doing ab exercises, such as, abs help assist your breathing, keep your pelvis aligned and it also hold all your digestive organs. These are just some simple exercises that will strengthen your core and give you the ab look you have always been wanting. In the second clip Makalen is doing three different leg workouts. In this clip I also briefly go over some benefits of doing leg exercises. Such as, it prevents lower back pain if done regularly, also helps keep your legs toned and looking healthy and can help an individual loose weight. These are just a few exercises to keep a person happy and healthy. They are also easy exercises that anybody could do at home in their living room. Overall, I think that by working out on a regular basis keeps your body looking and feeling healthy on the outside and the inside. I hope that you learned a little more about fitness and understand what muscles you are working out when you try these at home.

  1. Overall the video was good. It was very informative. There was however a part where you can hear you telling her to switch and it makes it less professional. The videos transitions were good. Something else I might consider is adding music. Just having a voice over can be kind of boring and there are long pauses in between the narration and the action that feel kind of awkward. The narration was good and there was good voice inflections. Overall you did a good job!

  2. Erin, I think that you are off to a great start for your video story. I can see how your video pertains to your topic of health and fitness. Specifically what I enjoy about your story is how you describe exactly what exercises she is doing and how they affect your body. It was interesting to learn how the development of core and abs can help with things like injury prevention and stability. Though I think your story is great there are a few things that I would add. First, I would try to continuously talk through the entire video so that there are no pauses or silence it makes the video a bit awkward. Also I would cut out the part where you whisper for her to switch because it’s pretty easy to hear. Finally, the last thing I would do is add a stronger conclusion. This could just be a sentence or to recapitulating everything that you said

  3. I think your video is perfect for your topic. I also think it is a great decision to create a how to video on how to do ab workouts and leg workouts. I really like your voice over in the background because it clearly explains how to do the workouts and how it is beneficial to your health and for anyone that is trying to work out more or trying to lose weight. For improvements, I would say to practice what you are saying more and make edits for when you slip up. I also suggest adding some soft background music to make it seem like an actual Youtube video. Otherwise, I think your video is really nicely produced and it suits your topic very well.

  4. I really like your execution for this project. The commentary along with the examples being shown is really nice. I think one thing that I noticed about the videos was that some of them carry on a little too long. If I’m being picky you could shorten some of the examples so it is not just your demonstrator working out with audio. This would also allow you to film different exercises. This is just a thought, overall great work!
