I have enjoyed being in Com 210 this fall semester. I felt like I was challenged in many ways, but also felt like I learned a lot of useful skills that I can take with me as I grow and get a job in the near future. My favorite project this semester was the graphic design project. https://erinsblog.fashion.blog/2019/09/20/final-graphic-design-project/ I liked this project because I had the opportunity to incorporate my topic of health and fitness this semester. I also felt like because the directions on this project were not super strict I was able to get creative with my work and make it my own.
When I did this project, I was learning how to use photoshop and watching the tutorials. I learned many things, such as, simple tools that are in photoshop and some skills that were more difficult to use and learn. Because of how technology is changing and evolving I think that the skills I learned from this will be useful when I get a job within the communication field. I think all of the adobe apps that have been presented to me through this com class I will use in the future and through the rest of my time at Washington State.
Especially if I get a job with in Public Relations I think these skills will be relevant. A couple projects that can be useful within a Public Relations job title would be the Photoshop possibly. Because within the PR field I will be working with other companies with ads and important posts that might require photoshop, audio and premiere pro. A website that I utilized multiple times when I got confused or lost on projects and tutorials was YouTube. This was an extremely helpful resource because it visually showed me how to fix something that became complicated.
For my final video story, my topic was fitness and health. I used Makalen Hughes as my fitness model, as she demonstrated three kinds of ab exercise and three kinds of leg exercises. I decided to add background music. I took some of the feedback from my peers and added a song quietly in the background, because I feel like it makes the video more uplifting and a lot more fun to watch. It makes the video seem shorter and I feel like the audience will listen to what I am saying are because the music will engage them to the point where they are just watching it with the intent to hear what I have to say. I think that this was good feedback! When adding it I had some trouble getting the music to be quieter than my voice, but other than that it was pretty easy to figure out! This video is to inform viewers about what these easy exercises, that my model Makalen is doing, and what they are actually working within your body, externally and internally. I also think that if anything, viewers can take away some easy at home exercises and the benefit is that you know what exactly you are working out by watching this video. Overall, I am happy that I choose fitness and health for the semester. I hope that I was able to teach people a lot in and through this video. I am happy with all of the feedback I got and I tried to incorporate in my video as much as possible. Fitness is very important and by watching this video viewers will see what the correct form is.
My topic throughout this semester has been fitness and health. For this project I had Makalen Hughes demonstrate two different workouts. Abs are something that everyone wants but to be able to achieve. But abs you have always been wanting take some effort and work. In this clip the first workouts you will see is her doing is three different kinds of ab workouts.I explain in the video the benefits of doing ab exercises, such as, abs help assist your breathing, keep your pelvis aligned and it also hold all your digestive organs. These are just some simple exercises that will strengthen your core and give you the ab look you have always been wanting. In the second clip Makalen is doing three different leg workouts. In this clip I also briefly go over some benefits of doing leg exercises. Such as, it prevents lower back pain if done regularly, also helps keep your legs toned and looking healthy and can help an individual loose weight. These are just a few exercises to keep a person happy and healthy. They are also easy exercises that anybody could do at home in their living room. Overall, I think that by working out on a regular basis keeps your body looking and feeling healthy on the outside and the inside. I hope that you learned a little more about fitness and understand what muscles you are working out when you try these at home.

My final audio story is about how fitness effects not only effects an individual’s physical physique, but also the mind, such as, mental health and moods that can fluctuate. When I posted my first draft audio story, I interviewed Makalen Hughes who’s dad is a professional body builder, owner of a protein shop and has a lot of background on health and fitness. Makalen said to me that when her dad started working out for the first couple of times when she was younger, that her and the rest of her family saw a difference in his attitude and mental state just from going to the gym on a schedule. She said that her dad, Paul, felt that he was less stressed when he went to the gym on a regular basis. She also told me that her dad would often take her to the gym as well. He encouraged her to also workout regularly because he saw the benefits it had. After I asked Makalen all these things in my draft audio I decided to add in and ask her “how she knows all she does about fitness.” She said it was because of her dad. I think something important to remember listening to this is that even though it seems like both of them do it for the physical aspect, they also realized that it has incredible benefits when they did to even realize. Now when both of them workout they are thinking about their mental state as well. Overall, I believe that Makalen was the perfect person to interview because her and her dad are both involved in the world of fitness and know that it is important for people to do on a regular basis even if it is just for mental health and to not be stressed.
I interviewed Makalen Hughes who’s dad has been a professional body builder for 5 years now. Makalen, mom and her sister and brother have traveled to many places with thier dad so that he could participate in numerous body building competitions around the United States. I felt like Makalen was an excellent person to interview on the topic of fitness and health because she has also competed with her dad at some of the competitions, and they work out together regularly. Makalen and her dad both feel that regular workout is incredibly important. Just because they do competitions for it and tend to work out more than the average person. It is still important for mental stability and to help someone gain confidence in themselves, and makes people feel and look healthier. Makalen often goes to the gym here at Washington State University. She runs on the treadmill and she says it helps her anxiety a lot because when she is running she is able to think through her schedule and her upcoming week. She also says that it makes her feel accomplished after she finishes a run. She sparked my inspiration for this because she had many good points that could be backed up because of what her and her dad have competed in. While interviewing her we talked a lot about fitness because she is very passionate and interested in everything health and fitness. Overall, I think that this insight was helpful to me because I learned a lot as I picked Makalen’s brain on this topic. She was very insightful and had lots of knowledge to give because she is always reading up on the latest trends and fads about health tips and new workouts. She was happy to have someone who can partially relate because I work out myself.

This is my final logo deign project. When I first uploaded it had no color. I decided to add color and take my classmates feedback. I added a red color to the heart to make it stand out because I think that my logo design revolves around the heart and I wanted it to be front and center with a bold color. I then added black to the weight so that it was not boring and so people could tell what it is more clearly. This makes my logo design pop much more and is more appealing when looking at it. I added the color with the paint brush and then clicked fill to fill the object I wanted color in. I also made my lines straighter and made sure there was no gaps on it. On my draft there was gaps in the lines and my weight lines did not match up with the heartbeats that are within the heart. I think that this made my logo design mare crisp and cleaner because it now flows better. My logo design is simple and to the point and I am glad that I was able to take the feedback my peers gave me to make it the best I possibly could. I think that my logo idea comes across to other easy and is simple to understand if someone were to look at it without context. I think it is important for people to see this and realize that fitness is also your inner body being affected just like your physical body is. To me this symbolize how it is important to take care of yourself mentally as well and remember your mind is also important. Overall, I am really happy with how my final came out and I think that my design is unique with the weight lines connecting to the heartbeat.
